Totally stumped so I looked it up!
Premiership started in 1992/93.
In that years FA Cup Chesterfield, Salisbury, Oxford United and Leicester City were knocked out on penalties in early rounds but Aston Villa were knocked out in the 4th Round by Wimbledon. Blackburn were knocked out in the 6th Round (by Sheffield United) and they were and are in the Premier League. However, Aston Villa were the first Premier (then and now) club to be knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties. |
