correct well done son!!!!
Simon

Baz

Although Craig is right. So were Rushy and myself before him!

David Gower took 1-1 against India in 1982 which was his only Test wicket.

Marcus Trescothick took 1-34 against Pakistan in 2000 which again was his only Test wicket.

For the record, Alan Lambs only wicket was when he took 1-6 against India in 1984.
Rushy

Were they captains at the time of taking the wicket? I'm not sure trescothick was, and i doubt gower would bring himself on to bowl.
Simon

But that wasn't the question that you asked.

The question was 'which former english cricket captain only ever took ONE test wicket?'

The answer to that question is Alan Lamb, Marcus Trescothick and David Gower.
Jules

Oh dear! I think everyone has toooo much time on their hands!
Rushy

says the person pointing out that people have to much time on thiers hands?
bailbreaker

Oh dear, I appear to have stirred up a hornets nest.
The information that I was supplied with, was obviously not fully researched. As i dont GOOGLE OR CRICINFO I took the answer given as correct.
as of now I will not be posting any further questions, as my only intention was as a bit of fun!

BARRY Sad Sad

btw M J K SMITH should also be on the list!
Jules

That would be a shame Barry.
As a person with far too much time on my hands (no work to do as everyone knows!) I like reading your questions - I just think they might be taken a bit tooo seriously sometimes
plumby

Barry you keep the question coming Laughing
Simon

Barry

I too would hate to see you stop posting questions on the Forum.

I would like to apologise to you if I have offended you in any way with my posts on this thread as that was certainly not my intention.

I think that the questions that you post help keep interest in the Club and the Forum alive during the disturbing period between September and May when there is no cricket for us to play!

The only point I was trying to make was that when we set quiz questions we need to make sure we have the correct answer as half the enjoyment of trying to answer one of the questions is to see if you have got it right (or normally in my case, wrong).
bailbreaker

Simon, thanks for your comments.
My motivation is a bit of fun, and to keep some sort of interest during the winter months.
