As if I'd leave out Bobby Moore, Simon! To the eternal shame of, well everyone, Bobby never got a knighthood.
I live in dread of Sir David Beckham, but I suspect it'll happen soon, especially as he's now announced his retirement from the game.

I must admit that I could have sworn that he got a knighthood but on checking it was only an OBE.
It does seem weird that Charles Clegg (who I must admit I had never heard of) got a knighthood for being President/Chairman of the FA and Bobby Moore didn't get one for winning the World Cup.
It is probably made worse by the fact that Pele, one of his international adversaries, did get an honorary knighthood even though he wasn't a member of a country with the Queen as Head of State.
